Essay on Mother's Day - 14TH OF MAY
The Mother - The Shaper of Destinies
Mother's Day is a special occasion celebrated around the world on today's date, that is 14th of May, to honor mothers and motherhood. It is a day to acknowledge and appreciate the love, care, and sacrifices made by mothers in their role as nurturers, protectors, and guides to their children. This day holds significant importance as it allows us to show our gratitude and respect for the women who have given us life and shaped our futures.
The woman is the centre of the home and hence she is the integrating force of society. Needless to say, the mother's role is vital in making the home heaven-like. It is her nature, her qualities, and her temperament that will go to build her home and influence her children. It is her personality that is stamped upon the home she lives in and the family she raises.
A mother is the shaper of her child's destiny and collectively, mothers have the power to shape the destiny of an entire nation! Mothers alone can sow the seeds of high values in the young impressionable minds of children. The health and well-being of a society, indeed the progress and prosperity of a nation, depends on these values.
It has been said that the home is the door to the kingdom of God, the kingdom of true happiness. But you cannot just buy or rent a heaven-like home readymade. It is the woman of the family who can turn a brick-and-mortar house or dwelling into a true home where love, joy, peace, commitment, values, and mutual understanding flourish.
The origin of Mother's Day can be traced back to ancient Greek and Roman festivals that celebrated motherhood. In the early 20th century, Anna Jarvis, an American social activist, started a campaign to establish a national holiday to honor mothers in the United States. Her efforts paid off in 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation declaring the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. Since then, the holiday has been celebrated annually in the US and gradually spread to other countries.
Mother's Day is celebrated in various ways around the world, but the core idea remains the same - to honor and show appreciation to mothers. In many countries, people give gifts, cards, and flowers to their mothers to express their love and gratitude. In some cultures, children cook or prepare a special meal for their mothers. Other traditions include taking mothers out for brunch, picnics,s or a day out, and hosting family gatherings. But honestly speaking, nobody can repay the mother who has sacrificed her life, happiness, and joy, for the overall well-being of her kids. So, on this auspicious day, we all try to bring a little smile to her innocent face, and even with our small contribution, she feels that she has everything. We are grateful to our mothers each day of the year, the day offers a great opportunity to verbalize how we feel, express our gratitude, and make them feel really special, and special doesn't mean expensive, it's more the thought and care that goes into what we do for her that counts, whether it's curating a bouquet of experiences that she would enjoy or even just lending her a helping hand to have a day off in a job which comes with no holidays. Actually, she never expects anything from us except some love, care, and affection.
Apart from honoring individual mothers, Mother's Day also serves as a reminder of the important role that mothers play in society. It is a day to recognize the sacrifices and challenges that mothers face while raising their children. Many organizations and charities also use the occasion to raise awareness and funds for issues affecting mothers and families.
In recent times, the significance of Mother's Day has grown beyond honoring just biological mothers. It is also a day to celebrate stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers, and all women who have played a maternal role in someone's life. The day is a reminder that motherhood is not limited to biology and that anyone who provides love, care, and support can be a mother figure.
In conclusion, Mother's Day is a significant occasion that recognizes and honors the contributions of mothers to society. It provides an opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation for the love and care that mothers provide to their children. Celebrated around the world, this day serves as a reminder of the important role that mothers play in shaping the future of our society. In Hindi, it is a saying," Mata kabhi Kumata Nahi Hoti ", meaning a mother can not be a bad mother, she is always a good mother.
The poem Of Mother -
A mother's love is like no other,
A bond that grows and will not smother.
It starts before the child is born,
A love that's deep and never torn.
She carries her child with love and care,
Protecting them with all her prayer.
She sacrifices so much each day,
To give her child the best in every way.
Her love is pure, her love is true,
And nothing in this world can undo.
She nurtures, guides, and helps her child grow,
With all the love and wisdom she can bestow.
She puts her child's needs above her own,
And never stops until they're grown.
Her heart is full of love and affection,
And she'll always be there with unwavering dedication.
So let us honor our mothers with praise,
For their love and sacrifice, we cannot repay.
Their love is a treasure that we cannot measure,
And it will stay with us always and forever.
At the end of this article, I can just say that and ask the mother," How you can be so nice? How can you be so nice? I have never seen you angry or depressed, for my any problem, How can you remain always available? The world around me asks me, How is your job? How much are you earning? When are you going to buy a new house or a bungalow? Why you don't ask me such questions? Your ultimate question is," Have you eaten something, since morning, if not have something to eat? Don't be hungry or you will get sick? Are you alright? Are you fine? How can you be so nice? What kind of heart has God given you? How can you be so nice, always? All the world around me may not believe me or may not agree with me but, "What makes you believe in me always when I have nothing"? "Why the world calls me inferior but according to you, Why am I always superior"?And this series of faithful questions are endless as her love is limitless and endless.
And sometimes she answers with a smile, " I am your mother and do not anything except your well-being, and to understand mother, you have to be a mother and even god bows his head in front to a mother and all the mothers of the universe are the same, not only human beings but all the living creatures on this mother Earth, yes our planet is also called Mother Earth because she also loves all of us although even we do not care much for her well being. Mother is Mother always, even God can not replace Mother's selflessness and affection. Mother is Mother, and once again I want to ask you my loving mother, "How can you be so nice, always". The persona of any mother is such a high, such divine that words are incapable of glorifying her wisdom.
My warm and heartful salute to all the Mothers of the planet Mother Earth. May Long Live Mother!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A Hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.-------WILLIAM ROSS WALLACE.
The Poem of Mother -
"A mother's devotion, a sacred space.
With eyes that sparkle, reflecting pure delight,
She cradles dreams, every day and night.
A lullaby whispers, a soothing song,
Echoes of a love so unwavering, strong.
In every heartbeat, a tale she imparts,
A symphony of love, a melody of hearts.
Her touch, a balm, for wounds unseen,
In her warmth, a haven, forever serene.
A sanctuary of solace, "A melody of hearts.
