What is the difference between an intelligent and a wise person -

Intelligence and wisdom are two terms often used interchangeably, but they have different meanings. Intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills, whereas wisdom is the ability to use knowledge and experience to make sound judgments and decisions.

An intelligent person may have a high IQ, excellent problem-solving skills, and be able to learn new concepts quickly. On the other hand, wise people may not necessarily have a high IQ, but they possess knowledge gained from life experiences, common sense, and critical thinking skills.

One example of the difference between intelligence and wisdom can be seen in the case of a medical doctor and a patient. An intelligent doctor may have an excellent understanding of medical terminology, diseases, and treatments, but they may need more wisdom to understand a patient's emotional needs. A wise doctor, on the other hand, may have excellent knowledge of medical science. Still, they also possess the ability to empathize with their patient, understand their fears and concerns, and provide them with the emotional support they need.

Another example of the difference between intelligence and wisdom can be seen in the case of a financial advisor and a client. An intelligent financial advisor may have a good understanding of the stock market, investment strategies, and economic trends, but they may lack the wisdom to recognize the risks associated with an investment. On the other hand, a wise financial advisor may not have as much knowledge of the stock market, but they possess the ability to analyze a client's financial goals, risk tolerance, and provide them with investment strategies tailored to their needs.

One more example can be considered to find out from a game of cricket. An intelligent bowler will deliver the ball to the batter as per his skills and technique, and he may or may not get his wicket, and in case of a failure he is unable to understand why am I not getting his wicket, because he bowled with his all might, but a wise bowler, before his turn to bowl, he would carefully observe, how the batter is batting, what is his footwork, on what sides he is unable to hit the ball, what kind of deliveries he is not comfortable, meaning he would figure out his loopholes of batting technique, plan his over of six balls, and whenever he gets the chance to bowl, he will get the wicket of the batter. The moral is that he would study the batter's psychology, his emotions, fears, and strong and weak zones as well, and will succeed, even though an intelligent bowler is superior to him as far as skills are concerned, but he uses his wisdom of the game and succeeds.

In conclusion, intelligence and wisdom are two distinct qualities that are necessary for success in different aspects of life. While intelligence can be acquired through education and training, wisdom is often gained through life experiences and reflection. An intelligent person may possess a vast amount of knowledge, but a wise person knows how to use that knowledge to make sound judgments and decisions.

One best example can be considered Bruce Lee, who was supposed to be a black belt in Judo, but he used to beat his superior players of Martial arts those having the red belt because he was a wise Judo player, the reason was simple, he was having the ability to use all the techniques and skills at a level of perfection. So, there could be more examples of it. Nowadays the terminology of Artificial Intelligence is being used extensively and is related to machine intelligence, but not termed Artificial Wisdom, because we use the term Intelligence to machines, and the term Wisdom, we relate to human beings.
