READ AND FIND OUT - ( Page. No. 27)
1. How did the invisible man first become visible?
Ans - Griffin became visible when he took shelter in the night at a London store, as it was bitterly cold on the London streets, So he wore some clothing in the store and slept there, but when the assistants saw him, he became visible, because of the clothing he wore.
2. Why was he wandering the streets?
Ans - Griffin was wandering the streets because his landlord disliked him, so he set fire to his house, to escape the situation without being seen, he removed his clothes and became a wanderer because he did not have a home, money, and the clothes.
READ AND FIND OUT - ( Page. No. 28)
1. Why does Mrs. Hall find the scientists eccentric?
Ans - Mrs Hall finds the scientist eccentric for many reasons such as the unusual time of his arrival in winter, his strange and uncommon appearance, habits, and temper, and no desire to talk made him eccentric.
2. What curious episode occurs in the study?
Ans - It was the study room of a clergyman, and when he heard some noise in it in the morning, he saw everywhere like behind the curtains, under the desk, or up the chimney. Still, he could not find anybody, but the desk was opened and the housekeeping money was missing.
3. What other extraordinary things happen at the inn?
Ans - Many extraordinary things happened at the inn such as Griffin's door was open which was usually shut and locked, then Mrs. Hall heard a sniff close to her ear, a hat suddenly leaped up and dashed into her face, the bedroom chair became alive, and came straight at her like it was flying in the air of its own, and pushed Mrs. Hall and her husband out of the room. Actually, all these activities were being done by Griffin, but he was invisible, so both of them got scared.
Think about it -
1. " Griffin was rather a lawless person". Comment.
Ans - Yes, indeed Griffin was a lawless person. He set fire to the landlord's house, used all the goods from a London store without paying, attacked and robbed a shopkeeper, robbed a clergyman, tortured Mrs. Hall and her husband, and finally assaulted Jeffers, the constable. In every situation, he misused his ability to become invisible."
2. How would you assess Griffin as a scientist?
Ans -As an individual with a keen interest in scientific progress, he persevered through countless experiments to uncover the elusive formula for invisibility - a truly remarkable feat. However, as a member of society, I cannot condone his misuse of this invention. As scientists, we are responsible for utilizing our discoveries for the betterment of mankind, not for personal gain. In this regard, Griffin's actions were misguided and troubling. We must remember the ethical implications of our scientific pursuits and strive to make the world a better place for all.
1. Would you like to become invisible? What advantages and disadvantages do you foresee, if you did?
Ans - Yes, I definitely want to become invisible. There are many advantages if it is possible that I to become invisible. Since childhood, I used to imagine myself as a bold police officer who is always behind the thieves, robbers, and unsocial elements, and catching and putting them behind bars, and by chance, I could become invisible, I would like to help police, policymakers, and some governmental spy agencies to catch such unsocial elements who are beyond their reach.
But there are its disadvantages too! It would create a kind of confusion among the masses, everybody will try to get the formula, and the people will start depending on the man to fix things for them, then in such case their natural ability would be hampered. It is just a thrilling thought, not a reality.
2. Are there invisible forces around us, for example, magnetism? Are there aspects of matter that are 'invisible' or not visible to the naked eye? What would the world be like if you could see such forces or such aspects of matter?
Ans - Yes, there exists plenty of invisible forces around us, rather we can say energies, that we feel, like at some places, we feel to run away from the place without any proper reason, and at some places, we are provoked to stay connected. I believe that the universe is a blend of positive and negative energies.
Throughout the universe, many invisible forces influence the behavior of objects and organisms. Some of these forces are positive, while others are negative. Let's explore some of the positive and negative forces that exist in the universe.
Positive Forces:
1. Gravity - Gravity is a force that attracts objects towards each other. It is what keeps planets in orbit around the sun and keeps us firmly on the surface of the earth.
2. Electromagnetism - Electromagnetic forces are responsible for the interactions between electrically charged particles. These forces are what hold atoms and molecules together, as well as what powers many electronic devices.
3. Love - Love is an intangible force that connects people and brings them closer together. It can bring joy, happiness, and fulfillment to our lives.
Negative Forces:
1. Dark Energy - Dark energy is a mysterious force that is thought to be responsible for the accelerating expansion of the universe. It is not yet fully understood, but it is believed to be a negative force that pushes matter apart.
2. Radiation - Radiation is a form of energy that can be harmful to living organisms. It can cause mutations and other health problems, and can even be deadly in high doses.
3. Hatred - Hatred is a negative force that can lead to conflict, violence, and destruction. It creates division and can tear communities apart.
Many other positive and negative forces exist in the universe, some of which we may not even know. But one thing is clear - these invisible forces have a powerful impact on our world and our lives. By understanding them better, we can harness their power for good and work to mitigate their negative effects
.3. What makes glass or water transparent ( what is the scientific explanation for this)? Is it scientifically possible for a man to become invisible, or transparent? (keep in mind that writers of science fiction have often turned out to be prophetic in their imagination)
Ans - The transparency of materials like glass or water is attributed to their interaction with light, especially the behavior of light as it passes through these substances. The scientific principle behind this phenomenon is related to the transmission of light waves, and it is because of the orderly arrangements of molecules or atoms in the material, allowing light to pass through without significant absorption or scattering. Refraction plays a crucial role in bending the light as it enters and exits the transparent medium.
The concept of invisibility raises several challenges from a scientific standpoint, mainly related to the interaction of light with the human body.
For something to be invisible, it would need to neither absorb nor reflect light, which is not possible with current scientific understanding. The human body absorbs and reflects light, making it visible to the human eye. The human body is a complex structure, and achieving invisibility would require overcoming the challenges presented by skin, organs, and other tissues that interact with light. It's not a simple matter of developing an invisibility cloak as often portrayed in fiction"
Even if there were a hypothetical way to achieve invisibility, the ethical and practical implications would be immense. Privacy concerns, security issues, and the potential misuse of such technology would need to be addressed."While there are ongoing advancements in materials and technologies that can manipulate light to achieve partial invisibility or camouflage in certain conditions, achieving true invisibility, especially for a living organism like a human, remains beyond our current scientific capabilities.
