Essay on Trees -
Introduction - Trees are always been part of human civilization, culture, and the progress of mankind. We simply can not imagine life in the absence of trees, they are not only known for uncountable offerings like wood, flowers, fruits, leaves, shade, and shelter but play a crucial role in maintaining environmental balance and ecosystem. They absorb all the harmful gases from the environment and convert them into pure oxygen. Trees make the world promising, inspiring, peaceful, and smoothening, Just imagine one green tree and its cool shade standing firmly in the midst of dry land. Every second day, we hear about increasing temperatures, global warming, and changing weather, but we hardly do any sincere efforts to combat this, now the time has come to become very sincere about this, otherwise, we may not be in a position to make eye contact with the future generations to come, because they are going to face a real problem. Last year, in the forest fire, we already lost the maximum amount of these green treasures, and if we start today, it would take years to compensate for the loss, but the need of the hour is to start.
Benefits of Trees
1. Even in this modern era, there are millions of people who depend on trees or forests, directly or indirectly for their livelihood or employment.
2. Trees are part of culture and traditions, many trees like Tulsi, Peepal, Banyan ( Bargad), Amla, Mango, Bael, or wood apple, commonly known as Belpatra in India are worshipped during the year at several occasions and festivals because of their spiritual, medicinal and environmental features.
3. Trees play a vital role in maintaining the ecological and environmental balance, it is a well-known fact that trees have a unique capability to absorb almost all the impurities from the atmosphere and deliver pure oxygen which is a lifeline of all the creatures that exist on the planet Earth.
4. Trees can minimize atmospheric temperature, avoid soil erosion, control flood, maintain groundwater tables, and control all kinds of pollution like air, water, noise or sound, radiation, and global warming which is causing dangerous threats to the environment.
5. Trees are meant to give shelter to many wild creatures, small insects, and birds.
6. According to the ancient science of India, Ayurveda, each and every tree has a unique healing capacity and medicinal value.
What is needed to be done?
1. The simple but effective drive can be made like ONE HOME - ONE TREE, and if is made worldwide, then billions of trees will come into existence.
2. Strict rules and regulations must be made regarding the hunting of wild animals because animals and trees are an essential part of a food web and food chain and they are largely dependent on each other, also human interference in the forests, sanctuaries, and parks to be minimized unless and until with proper cause and reason.
3. Farmers should be motivated to plant a different variety of trees on the fences of their land and by that, they can harvest multiple profits like shade, protection of crops, water table, ecosystem balance, and many more.
4. For building any kind of infrastructure like highways, dams, factories, power plants, tunnels, metros, research centers, colleges, etc, maximum numbers of trees are cut for making a proper place for construction. In such cases, strict rules are to be made to plant 10 times more trees to compensate for the green losses, whether it is in the private or public sector.
5. Protective measures to be adopted against forest mafias and some unsocial elements who destroy forest wealth for their own sake.
6. In India, it is observed that some tribes level the forest-covered land and start using the land for agricultural purposes, instead arrangements can be made for their continuous employment from the existing forest.
7. Proper and focused awareness to be generated among the masses about the importance and conservation of trees and forests and solid efforts to ensure their active contribution to the cause, otherwise it has been limited to schools and students only.
8. Some environmentally-oriented startups and NGOs are motivated by the Govt. authorities to bring out the difference with the help of common people.
9. More varieties of trees to be produced and made available, that require very less water to survive and only need to be planted in the rainy season. It will definitely inspire people to plant more and more trees, otherwise, it is commonly observed that many plantation drives have only a 5- 10 % success ratio or even less.
Conclusion -
Whatever efforts are being done to plant and conserve trees and forests are not enough as far as ecological balance and increasing temperature are concerned. We come across many mishappenings such as forest fires, floods, drought, lowering groundwater levels increasing temperatures in many metro cities that are related to a lack of trees and forests. We need to understand the importance of trees and very serious, collective efforts are needed to be done. Here, I would like to quote the inspiring and passionate efforts of," FOREST MAN OF INDIA", Jadhav Payeng, who single-handedly cultivated 1390 acres of forest across the Brahmaputra basin of India and today's natural ecosystem has been generated in that forest where wildlife is flourishing. So, we need more personalities like Jadhav Payeng who did it without the support of any private or public sector. It is our duty to plant more and more trees so that we can minimize the dangerous threat of global warming up to some extent. Whatever fruits we are harvesting today only because our forefathers had planted them, so let us plant some trees for our generations to come and it is our foremost duty to confer them the same green wealth that we have received. Every single tree matters!
Rhyming poem of a tree --
What a tree says: sow a seed, reap a
gold.
Let me grow, let me grow.
Give me waste, and I will provide you with the
best.
Give me water, and I will award you a reservoir.
Give me a glare, and I will turn it into
cover.
Give me soil, and I will remove your
turmoil.
Give me manure, and I will make you
prosper.
Let me grow, Let me grow.
Give me black, and I will turn it into
white.
Give me care, and I will provide you
shelter.
Give me importance, I will bestow you
innocence.
Give me affection, and I will grant you
complete protection.
Give me protection, and I will award you
nutrition.
Let me grow, Let me grow.
Give me a place, and I will provide you
space.
Give me growth, and I will confer your
wealth.
Give me worth, I will bestow you
the earth.
Give me safety, I will not let you
empty.
Give me affection, and l will grant you
perfection.
Let me grow, Let me grow.
Give me scanty, and l will provide
you plenty.
Give me a hand, and I will confer you many
hands.
Give me some, and I will turn into
awesome.
Give me an enclosure, and I will grant you
treasure.
Give me a fence, and I will deliver you solace.
I will offer, I will offer, I will
offer.
Let's grow together, together,
together.
Want to pursue real wealth, plant a
tree, Plant universal health.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Trees are poems the earth writes upon the sky, we fell them and turn them into paper, so that we may record our emptiness.--- KAHLIL GIBRAN
